Last year, two friends of mine moved into my apartment with me. I did not ask my landlord if they could live there. The landlord just gave them a 14-day notice to move out. Can he do this?

Yes. Your friends are not tenants because they are not allowed to live there under the tenancy agreement. Your landlord can, therefore, request that they leave the premises. To give people that live with you the same protection that you have as a tenant, you should ask your landlord if they can be added to the tenancy agreement when they move in. Your friends would then become tenants and would have all the rights and responsibilities that the agreement and the Residential Tenancies Act gives tenants.
